Las dos películas que encabezan las listas de nominaciones con un empate de 10 menciones son Roma del director Alfonso Cuarón y The Favourite (“La favorita”). De manera excepcional Roma está nominada en las categorías de mejor película y mejor película de habla no inglesa, si gana ambos premios sería el primer filme de la historia en lograr dicha hazaña.
Otra sorpresa fue Black Panther que obtuvo 7 nominaciones, es la primera producción de superhéroes en estar nominada a mejor película. Las siguientes películas con más nominaciones son A Star is Born («Ha nacido una estrella») y Vice, con8; Black Panther, con 7; BlacKkKlansman,con 6; y Bohemian Rhapsody, con 5.
La próxima edición de los premios que entrega la Academia de las Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas de Estados Unidos se celebrará el domingo 24 de febrero en el Teatro Dolby en Los Ángeles.
